After WUOC2006

Now I'm in JAPAN.
It's so hot today.
Crazy hot Japanese summuer is now remaining.

After WUOC2006 competitions, I'm writing the report of them.
I will release the content of that as soon as possible.

And I took so many photos and movies of the races and life in KOSICE.
I will update them, too if I find a new updating server.

特にヘレンの記事はやる気を沸かせてくれます。
リレーでの競り合いの振り返りは読んでいるだけで鳥肌が立ちました。

我々もいつかはこんなレースがしたいものですね。

Relay, Banquet, and WUOC2006 has gone...

I ran Relay on the 2nd leg of Japan team.

1st leg runner Takashi Sakamoto ran good race, so for me,
the important thing was to run fast and to jump up the result
of our team.

But I missed so much in the 2nd and 6th control.
I took 60 mins over and touched 3rd leg runner
Yuya Takahashi. I was so dissapointed.

We Japan team could not break through the past results.
Mmm... I'm sorry to all our supporters.

At the last, the closing ceremony and banquet was held.
It was so interesting and exciting finale of WUOC2006.

WUOC2006 was over and now I'm back home.
I'm still on Slovakia time. I need time to recover from jet lag.

So, it's the start of the next target.
I will take a little rest and start new life for orienteering.
I'll be back as a strong runner.

Sprint

Sprint race was held in the center of the city.
The start was nearby the finish so we could see
every runnners starting and finishing.

That was so interesting and exiting!!
I took some pictures and movie of the runners.

And the most amazing, is Mikiko Minagawa who got
the 17th place(50 seconds after Dana Brozkova).
I think it's the best in pastJapanese results.
Fantastic!

Tomorrow we will have the last race of WUOC2006, Relay.
I will run 2nd leg in Japan Team. The terrain of tomorrow
is a karst terrain.

We have to pay attention with a stonyground,
and also we have to run excellent by finding fine
route choises.
Simplification is the most important thing I think.

Japan Team will do our best for relay!
Please cheer up us!!

P.S.
The pain by bee is over. Now I'm sooooooo fine!
I'm ready for tomorrow!!!!

Middle Distance!!

Today, I ran Middle distance race.
The result was not satisfied with me.
But I could do my best for that.

First, I ran so agressive and found fine root choises.
I was remaining the higher orienteering speed.
That was a good thing for me.

I took some mistakes in a few controls.
The time was 2, or 3 minutes I think.
But to the 19th control(near finish),
I got lost and missed 4 minutes.
That's too bad for me.
Total missing time was 6-7 minutes I think.

Another problem.
I was beaten by bees on my head and finger.
God gave me two too much pain.
mmm...ITAIYO!

Tomorrow, Sprint distance race will be held.
I won't run tomorrow. So I'll prepare for Relay!!

Long Distance

Today, long distance race has held.
But for me, It's a rest day today.

I got up 6:45 am.
Breakfast, Reading, Watch DVD(Tokyo Incidents),
lunch, shopping, and silent afternoon sleeping
in the gentle breeze.

While I was doing such things, the race was held.
Michal Smola(CZE) and Dana Brozkova(CZE) won the race.
They defend their own titles!!

Tomorrow, middle distance race will be held.
I will run that. Now I'm just a little bit scared.
But I will run fast and get a good result!

Model Event & Opening Celemony!!

Today, Model Event & Opening Celemony was held.

I tried to do long leg situation and found my
problems in model event. The one thing I have to
pay attention is "Leaving control", I think.

"Simplification and Sofisticated navigation"

is the most important thing for running through
the slovak continental type terrain.

That's my theme of Middle distance race.

After the Model Event, the Opening Celemony was held
in the central part of Kosice. That's so interesting
and a very celemonial event for us.

World University Orienteering Championships starts today!!
Now I'm good in shape, no problem, and ready for the races.
I'll enjoy running through the forest and get good result!

SLOVAKIA!!

Now I'm in Kosice SLOVAKIA.

I'm so fine and JAPAN Team members, too.
It's everything O.K. for us.

Today, we went karst terrain for trainning of Relay.
The terrain is so clear. But the ground is not so good for running,
because so many small stones are there under the fallen leaves.

Tomorrow we have a model event and opening ceremony.
Other teams have come and the competition will start!!

I'm looking forward to competing with them.
Go NIPPON!

Day after tomorrow いよいよ明後日出発

会社の同期から、寄せ書きの色紙をもらいました。

そこには様々な応援メッセージが書かれており、
純粋にみんなの気持ちが伝わってきました。

これほどうれしいことはないです。
一気にテンション急上昇です。

みんな、ありがとう！
西尾はスロバキアの森を爆走してきます。
いよいよ明後日出発になりました。

Another 3 days あと3日！

出発まであと3日。
特に気負うことも無く、
普段と変わりない生活。

オリエンテーリングを始めて7年、
築き上げてきたポリシーがある。

「継続は力なり」
「心の底から楽しむ」

の2点。

続けていれば、成長できる。
楽しむことができれば、面白くなる。
楽しいからこそ、続けられる。

しかし、まだ発展途上。
まだ限界を見るわけにはいかない。
とは言え、限界の向こう側を見ることができていない自分もまた、
甘い。


今回のユニバーの目標は何か。
もちろん、

「楽しむこと」

極限までに張り詰めた集中力の発揮と、
血反吐を吐くほどの追い込みが理想である。

楽しむとは、“ラク”をすることではない。
自分の限界に挑戦してその先に手を伸ばすことだ。

前回、ミドルでは実に「楽しい」レースを展開することができた。
今回はそれを上回るのが目標であり、求められる結果だ。

現実的な数字にして、トップ比120%、+7~8分。

それが何を意味するのか。
わからない。

でも、「向こう側」を感じるために全力を注ぎたい。

Never give up.
Take it easy.
Believe in yourself.

You can do it!!

4 days before ～2年間の軌跡～

2004年6月、チェコのユニバー終了。

僕は次の第一歩を踏み出した。
そしてあるいは一歩、後退した。
苦悩の日々の始まり。

2005年、からくり時計のねじを巻くように、

8 days before 出発まであと8日

本日も会議。今日は2時間。
ねみ～。何回かカクンとなったし。
話の内容90%わからんし。

Mmm...
The first step is the hardest.

あとはPCの設定を朝から夕方まで
していただき、感謝感謝。

しかし、しょっぱなから失敗が多い。
領収書に記名印字をすっかり忘れて提出するわ、
大事な大事なパスワードが記載された書類を無くすわ、
and so on...

I'm extremely sorry.

さて、WOCはロング決勝が行われたようだが、
夕べは力尽きて観戦できず、残念。

しかし、出発まであと8日！
モチベーションが徐々に上がってきた！


・・・
閑話休題。

亀田さんは非難轟々浴びておられますが、
それをいちばんよくわかっているのは本人なのだろうと思う。

むしろ、周囲からの非難の声に知らん振りできるパフォーマンスに
その図太さを感じる。我々の知らないところで彼は辛酸をなめているに
違いない。それを決して表に出さない芯の強さを、むしろ見習うべきではないか、

とも思ったりするのである。

会社という組織について。
歯車がでか過ぎて話が噛み合わない部分がある。
融通が利かない。頭が固い。

個人あっての会社というが、それは裏を返せば会社という
巨大な樹に寄りかかっているに過ぎない。

何の混じりけも無いこの純粋な気持ちを
ゆくゆくまで持ち続けるためには、どでかい歯車に
自分を合わせるのではなく、新たに歯車を加えたり
無駄な部分をぶち壊したりする行動力が必要だ。

果てしない勝負の場が新たに開かれた気がする。

9 days before 出発まであと9日

I went to work today. I was too tired.
Because we had the afternoon meeting for 5 hours.
Mmmm.

本社で午後から5時間ミーティング。
しんどいしんどい。現場で汗だくになって働いていたのが懐かしい。

I watched WOC in Denmark live show last night.
It was amazing and exiting Sprint Final.

おかげで眠い。しかし、非常にいい刺激をもらった。
Passion!!
I need more PASSION!!

男子は去年と同じくEmil,Daniのツートップ。
Hanny Allston won the women's final race.
若干二十歳で世界一。simeに続く期待の星だ。

ひそかに応援していたSUIのFabian Hertnerは
ラストセクションで大爆裂したようで残念。
もしかしたらユニバーで会えるかも。
話を聞いてみよう。

Now I'm looking forward to go and run WUOC!!
